women in depth life (my 1st writing in english...)

The women is always made to lie parallel to the main irrigation canal or stream that is nearest the village…with her feet pointing down-stream so as to symbolically facilitate childbirth……

Half an hour before delivery….

Mak bidan “Mung kesok kiri skt…..(slightly move to the left…)”

……….Me….wondering…WHY?....
.emmm…

“Why she had to shift her position?”…

Ye duk alik hok dok molek..nok beranok sening dok leh duk alik nung…..(mother had not been in the proper position to give birth on Monday)”…..HA!!.....I'm blurring…?

After many discussion….the east coast midwife have a daily directional systems to guide their patient thru childbirths.

Me, monologue to myself….”what a coherent rational for the association of days and directions…eemmm…that all about “inner knowledge”….

Mak bidan “ so beng tanye bakper….(not encourage to ask)”

It is only the exceptional individual who ponders the meanings of the knowledge she has been taught

“the days follow one another in counter-clockwise sequence and slightly adjust for different times of day associated with wind prevailing=measure heat (hottest-coldest)”

Mak bidan “hari hok senang beranok..hari jumaat, sening ngan khamih…hari “panah”(easiest days to give birth was Friday, Monday and Thursday, “heat days”)

Harder is Tuesday, (one step colder),Wednesday (2 step colder), Saturday (2 steps hotter fr directions), Sunday (Hardest -5 steps hotter)

The larger the discrepancy in intrinsic heat, the greater the difficulty.

emmmm...its coherent and correlate?emmm.......

mak bidan" ngadap utare..ge orang mati..." (north is associated with death-corpse are buried with their head pointing north)

emmmm.....

-to be continue-

penulisan ni, di buat untuk GOSMAP presentation in Sarawak....hehehe...the narrative of childbirth process in tradiional malay midwifery....banyak ag....processnyer..
